About this Talk
When striving to cost-effectively scale up the production of ADUs or enhance the renovation of homes to support home-sharing, new systems for construction may be a good choice--especially if a community is striving to add a lot of ADUs via a strategic program that includes sharing designs and having them pre-approved (as much as practical) for code compliance.
This session looks at Structured Insulated Panels, an innovative home manufacturing company ("Boxabl"), along with Insulated Concrete Forms, Interlocking Bricks, and ComfortBlock, a pre-formed concrete block system.

Jack Armstrong is trained as a Chemical Engineer from the University of Texas with advanced studies towards a MBA from the University of Houston and Sustainability Initiatives from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. Jack has served on the board of directors of the Sustainable Building Industries Council, Structural Insulated Panel Association, and on the board and as Sustainability Chair of BPA – the worldwide consumer and media audit association in New York City composed of brand owners and advertising agencies. Currently, he serves on the board of Team Zero (formerly the Net Zero Energy Coalition) and EEBA - the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance. He also trains construction design professionals in sustainable material multi-attribute decision making around material hazard, exposure, and risk for other associations including the American Chemistry Council and the Vinyl Institute. Additionally, he was a member of the United Nations Environmental Program Sustainable Building Climate Initiative Materials Advisory Committee and Chair for the Building & Construction Materials Issues Team of the American Chemistry Council’s Plastics Division.
