Jack Armstrong

Executive Director & COO, Structural Insulated Panel Association Jack Armstrong is trained as a Chemical Engineer from the University of Texas with advanced studies towards a MBA from the University of Houston and Sustainability Initiatives from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. Jack has served on the board of directors of the Sustainable Building Industries Council, Structural Insulated Panel Association, and on the board and as Sustainability Chair of BPA – the worldwide consumer and media audit association in New York City composed of brand owners and advertising agencies. Currently, he serves on the board of Team Zero (formerly the Net Zero Energy Coalition) and EEBA - the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance. He also trains construction design professionals in sustainable material multi-attribute decision making around material hazard, exposure, and risk for other associations including the American Chemistry Council and the Vinyl Institute. Additionally, he was a member of the United Nations Environmental Program Sustainable Building Climate Initiative Materials Advisory Committee and Chair for the Building & Construction Materials Issues Team of the American Chemistry Council’s Plastics Division.

JACK ARMSTRONG is president of ACUMEN, LLC, a boutique sustainable marketing, advocacy, and business communication consulting practice, founded after his 24-year career with BASF – The Chemical Company. Key focus areas include energy efficiency/durability for sustainable construction in the built environment, in addition to B2B supply chain, life cycle analysis, and federal/state/city advocacy messaging along the entire value chain. Armstrong has specific public relations and speaking experience with B2C messaging linked to high performance attributes enabled via products of chemistry. Selected clients include the American Chemistry Council (construction value chain outreach for chemicals of concern) and the Structural Insulated Panel Association (executive director & chief operating officer).

Having graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas, Armstrong began working for BASF in 1989.
